Vacation Season

What have I been up to these days, you ask? I've been traveling the world, of course.

Vacation season for me started mid-April and will continue through the beginning of July. For some reason I decided to use ALL of my vacation days (including the personal choice holidays) within 3 months. In April I took a week and traveled to Italy. Mandi, my sister, had been in Tanzania for the past 2 2/3 years and on her way back to the States met me in Rome. We zipped around (well as fast as our aching feet could take us) Rome, Florence, Aviano, and Venice. Soon I should have my pictures from that trip up on in my photos section. That week went by quite quickly and we only got a quick look at many of the sites those towns had to offer. In Aviano we met up with Jason Wargo who is stationed at the U.S. Air Base there. It was nice to get a taste of a less urban side of Italy.

In May I used one day of vacation to extend my Memorial weekend to four days. Saturday I flew out to sunny San Diego and was picked up by three young, hip Californians. I spent that time in Irvine with those three namely, Mom, Dad, and Jennn. We hit all the main attractions including the House of Blue's Gospel Brunch, Disney's California Adventure, and dinner at the Hotel del Coronado, in addition to working on our tans by the pool.

The near future also holds plenty of breaks from work. Next week I'll be down in the Outer Banks, North Carolina with the family. We'll be renting two houses on the beach with much swimming, tanning, b-ball (watching and playing), eating, playing charades, cards, and anything else we can come up with. The first week of July is an IBM site vacation time, so I'll be hitting various eastern and midwest destinations to fill the time, and also catch up with old friends.

So let me know what you are up to these days. If you'll be taking some vacation let me know now, because a month from now when I'm looking at 5 months of no more time off, your tales may not be so well accepted.
