Health Update

No April fooling here, but this week has still brought a number of surprises. After seeing my doctor about a lump on my abdomen I was told that I need surgery for hernia. (That's when the intestines force their way through a weakness in the abdomen wall--it's best not to picture it.) So a week ago I met with the surgeon and set an April first date. It's a one day, low-risk surgery, and I'd be back to work in a day to two. I was assured that it is not an emergency, but still something that needs to be done. I then promptly enlisted help from various friends and family members to drive me to and from the hospital, because apparently, they don't want me driving the same day as being drugged to unconsciousness. Go figure.

But if that sounds too easy and uncomplicated, you are truly insightful, because come the weekend I picked up a nice case of strep throat. So on the day before the surgery I had to cancel everything and start up on antibiotics. As things stand now my surgery will get postponed for at least 4 weeks. And now I'll just wait as my voice reappears and swollen tonsils finally subside. Of course on the upside this will surely afford me another exciting update come next month.

Keep well,
Steve
