Christmas LetterThis year has been one of changes for all us Poughkeepsie Partlows. Two thousand and four began with Jennn living in Slovakia, Steve in Wappingers Falls, and growing phone bills from the international calls. With one wedding, two wedding receptions, three moves, and four transatlantic flights between them, the year ends in a much different tune. In 2004 Steve continued his work at IBM, taking on some new responsibilities in both customer relations and technical areas. At church he has remained on the council and as a youth advisor, as well as recently becoming the head of the missions committee. In August, Steve moved the 10 miles to Poughkeepsie, NY and into the apartment which he and his wife now call home. Jennn's year has been even more eventful. After finishing up her two-year position teaching English in Bratislava, she had to say goodbye to all her friends and her "Slovak family" whom she had come to love. Moving back to New Jersey, she then tackled the task of finalizing all the preparations for the wedding. Come September, Jennn also moved to Poughkeepsie, and began her new life as a New Yorker. Jennn has kept busy turning the apartment into a home, as well as volunteering at church in everything from being on a worship planning team and performing many skits, to leading youth Sunday school lessons and joining a women's scrap-booking bible study. Clearly the most exciting event of the year for Jennn and Steve was their wedding. After over a year of preparations, on September fifth, the wedding finally came together. It was a joyous time, made particularly memorable by having so many friends and family (from as far away as California and Europe) together at once. The food, the music, the dancing, and the laughter, all helped make this special time between Jennn and Steve a lasting memory to share with you all. Now as this year ends and we look forward to a new year together, we also wish you a wonderful Christmas where you too may see God's hand working into the new year. The Po'keepsie Partlows |
